Powerbooks Brand Relaunch – Greenbelt 4

My friend and I attended the Powerbooks Brand Relaunch event at Greenbelt 4 last June 1, 2010. Me and my friend really loves reading books.

Known people and celebrities, like father and son, David and Powie Celdran, Magic 89.9 DJ Mojo, Sara Black, Tambunting siblings (Nacho and Ines), blogger Cecile van Straten, Joey Yupangco, Tim Yap and Tessa Prieto-Valdez were there to show the books of their shelves. Press people and book lovers were also present at the event.

One of the highlights of the event was the introduction of Powerbooks’ new logo.

Another thing, I was able to answer a question and won two (2) Powerbooks journal for the trivia contest.

QUESTION: What are the names of the four (sisters) in the book, Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott?

Of course, they are Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy!

I was able to remember their names because I have already read that book when I was young and I even watched its cartoon series.

As part of the event, there was a 20% discount promo for every book that customers buy.

Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

19My boyfriend gave me a gift for our 2nd monthsary. It was a book, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, written by Rick Riordan. He bought it in Powerbooks for Php 305.

I find the book interesting after I read the synopsis:

Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school…again. And that’s the least of his troubles. Lately, the mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy’s Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he’s angered a few of them. Zeus’ master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus’s stolen property and bring property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeedon his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Japsy told me that the said book will be shown as movie in 2010. I still have a lot of time to read the book before the movie will be shown next year. Here’s the trailer:

Something Worth Reading

22I read a lot, as in a lot. I read during my free time. I read most of the time in the bath room. I read before I sleep. I read during vacation trips. I’m really addictive in reading anything! I really had more time sleeping, eating, surfing the net and reading after I resigned from office. I’ve been reading Heartbeat by Danielle Steel since last week, and still enjoying it. I love the twist of the story. It is really one amazing novel that will not disappoint the readers.

Kat gave me a book, The Dictionary of Love by John Stark, Will Hopkins and Mary K. Baumann, as a gift, last Sunday, May 3, 2009. I saw this book in a book sale in National Bookstore, Cybermall in Eastwood, Libis. I really like the book  the first time I saw it. Maybe because…it’s about love. I decided not to buy it because I’ve been spending a lot in my job requirements. I just told Kat that I’m interested in the book and planned to buy it soon. I was surprised that she looked for the book herself and buy it for me!

The Dictionary of Love is a three hundred-page book that gets to the heart of the matter.

21It’s all about anything you’ve ever wanted to know about love including love songs, poems, history, law books, sex manuals, medical and psychology texts, folklore, modern science, cookbooks, classical literature, Internet dating sites, TV shows, and today’s slang. I’d be happy to share some here in my blog. If you want to say “I love you” in thousands of unexpected ways, this is the best book to read. For guys, you can give it as a gift to ladies in additional to the traditional flowers and chocolates.

This is really one interesting book anyone can enjoy anytime.

Thanks Kat!

I’ve been into books all my life and still enjoying reading more. I love going to bookstores and enjoy booksale where I can buy books in lesser prices. Here are the books that I bought recently:

28Top 10 of Everything 2009 by Russell Ash – I bought this book last November and gave it as a gift to Kat in her birthday. This cost P715.00. It’s kind of expensive but it’s really worth the price. In addition, I love the design of the book cover. Russell Ash‘s book, Top of Everything, has been published for 20 years now. This book has entertained and educated readers with fascinating facts. Enjoy 7,000 facts in this book that will intrigue and amaze you. It’s a book really worth reading. I’ve been addictive to it and been amazed with everything in it. I’ll be sharing everything here in my blog soon.

29Sex: A Natural History by Joann Ellison Rodgers – I bought this in a book sale in National Bookstore for P100.00. I find it interesting and affordable. I think I need some serious reading and time to understand this one. If you want to really know about sex, this is a must-read book for you. It talks about the science and strategies of sex explaining what is it makes us male and female, providing fascinating insights into the biology and physiology of flirtation, love, courtship, intercourse, fidelity, parenting, and nurturing. It also talks about sexual theories, what drives our sexual behavior, from why we find a person attractive, to why we cheat on our mates.

30Outing Yourself – How to Come Out as Lesbian or Gay to your Family, Friends and Coworkers by Michelangelo Signorile – This is another book I bought in the same book sale for P75.00. I’ve started to read this, really an interesting one. This book is all about coming out! Many think that it’s that easy but it’s not! It’s a difficult emotional process, that will continue long after the words are spoken and the secret is out. This book is a 14-step program – complete with exercises, meditation notes, and anger checks, as well as the accounts of the coming out experiences of other lesbians and gay men.

I’ve got lots of books to read this year…and wanting to buy more. I hope to finish reading them all!
